FALL IS HERE!!!!!!

My people! How I have missed you!

I should probably fill you in on what's been going on. I got the job I was telling you about and it's at Albertsons in the bakery. I work with a lot of bread, eh, but occasionally I get to decorate cakes and that's awesome! I just started classes again so I have been pretty busy(sorry for the long absence.) I turn 21 on Monday and I'm pretty stoked for that! Haven't decided what kind of cake I want yet. How about you send in your favorite cakes and I'll see what sounds the best. (I'm a Libra so I'm very indecisive. Lol.) Let the suggestions begin!!!

So the other day I stumbled across something amazing. I had some carrots that needed to be used but I had no cream cheese, you see my dilemma? So anyways, carrot cake was out. I had been craving cake batter cookies for weeks and I thought, carrot cake cookies don't NEED frosting...hmmm....CHALLENGE ACCEPTED!

So I looked up a recipe to use as my base and they seemed to all use cake mix. LAME. So I kinda used a few recipes and made them my own. I also was wanting something pumpkin-ey/spice cake-ey. So here's what I did. I made a carrot cake-like base with cinnamon, nutmeg, ginger, allspice and pumpkin pie spice. I then proceeded to add butterscotch chips and place little mounds of the batter on a greased cookie sheet and baked them at 350 for about 10-12 minutes. These were little mounds of joy, I tell ya. If my husband says something other than, "eh," AND comes back for a whole stack of cookies, you know they're good.

So I'm gonna hold off on posting the recipe right now and I want you to reply with something you have stumbled upon and how it turned out and/or what your favorite fall dessert is. Well, what're you waiting for? Go! Go bake and be jolly!

Sticky Buns

Sticky Buns Continued

Rising before being baked.
So this morning was kinda crazy. I got up around seven, despite how late I stayed up last night, and I took the sticky buns out of the fridge to set for about an hour before I baked them off. I then went back into my room, back under the covers, and layed there while I waited for my timer to go off. Back into the kitchen I went to preheat the oven and while I waited I did my hair. I figured I got up early enough. Why not? I got about half way done, went out and put the sticky buns in the oven, finished my hair and the sticky buns were getting nice and brown and caramelized. (This is the part where you drool.)
Perfect light and golden.
My hubby's buns were done first. The little pan of four were just perfect. I turned over the pan and they slid out onto the plate and were shiny, golden and beautiful. Now, I wish I could say the same for the rest. Don't get me wrong, they were still delicious. They just didn't look very appetizing. Or in the words of my husband, "Those look like bear poop!" SMH. It's true, but they tasted amazing!
So after my crazy morning I went down to where I applied and turned in a resume. I wore my chef coat, asked for the manager, shook his hand, and I now have an interview tomorrow morning! I'm so excited! I'm not saying where or giving any details until I know whether or not I have the job but just know that I am happy and wish me luck. Now, back to the sticky buns. Here's some pictures and I'll post the recipe as it's own page. Bon ap·pé·tit !...
"Bear poop."
...So this would have been posted HOURS ago but the hubby hauled me away to go run errands. Anyways, an amazing thing happened whilst at the Fred Meyer. I found the PERFECT pair of Nikes! I don't usually get so excited over tennis shoes but they were amazing. Light, a bit squishy, wide and totally awesome colors! And guess what? My BIRTHDAY is this month! I now know exactly what I want. And then it started storming on our way to pick up dinner. I LOVE storms!!! So my day started out with sticky buns and ended with chinese and a storm. Overall a great day. Hope yours was too, and if not, there's always tomorrow.

Sticky Buns!!!

 Late Night Sticky Buns

So I was really itching to make something delicious this evening because 1) I'm on break until the 23rd and it's driving me crazy trying to relax. And you see, relaxing is the happy medium between being constantly busy and straight up lazy. I find it hard to find that medium. I've been watching a LOT of Grey's Anatomy... And  2) Because it has been waaaaay too long to go without a post and Savvy keeps putting off her posts so I am here for my beloved fellow bloggers.

This evening I made sticky buns. That's right, the ooey, gooey, deliciousness that is yeasted dough filled with buttery brown sugar and cinnamon goodness placed atop a dark nutty substance that is Caramel. I love sticky buns. They bring Joy to my nose, mouth, heart, and true baker soul.

Now, my husband was complaining because I put nuts in the caramel, I've NEVER seen a sticky bun recipe that didn't call for nuts. But, being the princess of a wife that I am, I made up some more caramel without nuts and made a little pan with four sticky buns just for him. What can I say? I love the dude.

So I get the sticky buns all set up and ready and realize just how late it is. Man...I guess they'll have to wait til morning. Fresh sticky buns for breakfast it is! So the cute little buns are rising to be quite large buns in the fridge and they'll be baked off and devoured in the morning. Speaking of rather large buns, mine better get to bed! Lol. I'll post pics in the morning along with more on the procedure with some pictures and the amazing recipe. Sweet dreams to all. And to all, sweet dreams.
